Spiritual Warfare
This page deals with general topics associated with spiritual warfare.
How do I know if I'm being attacked?
There are two basic ways that a person can be attacked: through some form of witchcraft (See 8 Stings of Witchcraft) or by unclean spirits.
If anyone has a good set of rules to detect attack from unclean spirits, please email me!
What do I do if I'm attacked?
- If the attack originates from a person: The most thing to remember in a case like this is that most likely an unclean spirit is the real cause of the problem. Unclean spirits can attack a person in such a way as to get them to do things that are against God’s will. There are many different types of unclean spirits (see Classes of Unclean Spirits) and the type of spirit that is attacking you through another person is usually tied to any “open doors” that that person may have. To deal with the attack you should first take authority over the unclean spirit. Failure to do this will only result in your being attacked over and over again by the same unclean spirits. After you’ve taken authority in Jesus’s name over the unclean spirit, you then need to deal with the person that was used in the attack. The best thing to do is to pray that God would smite the originator with love and light. That they would be smitten (pun intended) with the Love of Jesus. The basic principle at work here is that to destroy darkness, you must fill the dark space with light.
- If the attack originates from an unclean spirit: Take authority, and bind the spirit in the name of Jesus. You must do this out loud, as spirits can't read your mind. Don't forget to use the name of Jesus. Without Jesus, we have no power or authority.
How do I prevent attacks?
Well, if you are doing anything useful for God, you will be attacked from time to time. However, there are several things we can do to reduce the frequency and severity of the attacks.
- Put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-18).
- Put your flesh to death daily (Mark 8:34, Philippians 2:7-8, Romans 7:18, Romans 8:7, Romans 13:14, Galatians 5:24).
- Walk acording to the Spirit (Romans 8:6, Galatians 3:3, Galatians 5:16, Galatians 6:8).
- Trust in God for everything (do I really need verses for this one?).
